We are hiring!
About us
The Center for Sustainable Media is a consultancy and think tank helping digital publishers build stronger businesses. We work with newsrooms on revenue, audience, and product strategies, we design and deliver large-scale international media development projects, and we advise major international funders on how to support independent media more effectively.
The roles
We’re hiring at junior, mid, and senior levels to grow our small, fast-moving team. You’ll work with some of Europe’s most ambitious digital publishers, helping them tackle their toughest business challenges. One week you might be deep in audience and revenue data, the next you’re sketching out a new subscription model, and the next you’re mapping an international project proposal. The work is varied, fast-paced, and hands-on.
This is not a “clock in, clock out” job. We’re looking for people who want to put their energy and ambition to good use, and who are eager to learn from some of the best in the business. You’ll get a front-row seat to the transformation of digital media in Europe and the chance to shape it.
What we’re looking for (all levels)
Excellent English (C1 or better).
A good grasp of the digital media world or the curiosity and drive to get there fast.
Analytical and organizational skills.
Commitment to independent journalism.
Basic familiarity with office software, along with a willingness and ability to adopt new tools with ease.
Junior level
No prior work experience required; relevant education a plus but not necessary. Ideal for recent graduates or career changers.
Mid level
Around 5 years of experience in media, communications, consultancy, advertising or international development.
Senior level
10+ years of experience in media, communications, consultancy, advertising or international development, with a strong track record of successful projects.
Bonus points
Extra credit for experience in digital media, knowledge of the European media landscape, and fluency in a CEE regional language (Hungarian, Polish, Romanian, Bulgarian, etc.).
What you’ll do (all levels)
Work with publishers on business, product, and audience growth.
Support clients in designing and rolling out revenue strategies.
Collect, analyze, and interpret traffic and business data.
Help design audience research and turn insights into strategy.
Track institutional funding opportunities and help clients navigate them.
Conduct background research and due diligence.
Contribute to project development, management, and reporting.
What we offer
The chance to work closely with industry leaders and learn in an environment where professional growth is constant.
A supportive, ambitious team that values ideas and initiative.
An office in central Budapest, a stone’s throw from Parliament.
Laptop
